Finished, A Touch of Fae, last night at about midnight. This is the sequel to Triad. I am really really happy with how it turned out. I had envisioned it one way but it just went somewhere else.

Now on to editing.

You learn something new every day

I keep on learning new things that are important. Different conferences to go to, which are more important than others, new contests, etc. I tell you, it makes my head spin.

Family is visiting so I can't write as much as I normally would. I am 90% finished with A Touch of Fae though. Worked through the final outline for the climax (no, not that kind, you perv) just as I was dropping off to sleep. I hope to have it finished by the end of the weekend.

Doing a read through and re-edit of Room Mates and I realize that it needs an overhaul, not so much the last half but the first half. Comparing it to other things I've written just shows me that I've come a long way since I first started writing. I've put it aside and will look at it again when I finish with A Touch of Fae, the sequel to Triad and then my BDSM story

       Tell me something good...

Damn I love Rufus.

Anyway, good news, or possible good news anyway. A friend is thinking of putting out a small press run literary erotica anthology and asked if I'd be interested in contributing. What a lovely opportunity that would be.

So a few weeks back I stumbled across this intensely beautiful picture of a woman who'd been tied in rope, in the Japanese Rope style. It isn't anything that I would personally like to do but I found the picture of the knots working down her back to be evocative and alluring in some sense and I saw beauty where I hadn't imagined it would be before.

It got me thinking and the light BDSM story I was working on now has japanese rope bondage as an element, I'm reading up, it's fascinating stuff, I may even go to one of those classes that they do at the Wet Spot just to see it for myself.

In other inspirational news, I signed my contract this morning and put it in the mail. I really can't believe that this is happening!

       I should be working...

But I'm surfing around instead, looking at a few pictures of some steamy men that a friend sent me. Mrrrowwrrr!

A few things:
1) Interpol - Antics. What an incredible band and what a great CD. I highly recommend it. Sort of reminded me of old school 80's alt rock with a bit of new wave thrown in. Their first record, Turn On the Bright Lights is really good too.

2) The Killers - Hot Fuss. Another old school sounding band.

3) Reading Lolita in Tehran - an amazing book, one of the best memoirs I've read in a very long time. It does tend to wander a bit here and there, but it's really enjoyable nonetheless.

Colin Farrel - just thought I'd throw that out there. He's just scrumptuous.

       The good mood

It lasts into today. I'm all aflutter and alternately anxious and excited and horrified. I'm nearly done with the sequel already. I have to deal with other things, like the fact that my parents are coming for Thanksgiving and my house is a total mess!

I use music a lot when I'm writing, especially during sex scenes. Today I was procrastinating and decided to come up with a good soundtrack for a sex scene, or songs that ring my bell...

Long Snake Moan - PJ Harvey
Last Kiss Goodbye - Jeff Buckley - Kiss me, please kiss me, kiss me out of desire baby not consolation....
First Taste - Fiona Apple
Everybody Here Wants you - Jeff Buckley - And our eyes locked in downcast love I sit here proud Even now you're undressed in your dreams with me (god, this one does me in every time I hear it)
Live in a Hiding Place - Idlewild
On Your Side - Pete Yorn
Closer - Trent Reznor
Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here - the whole record
Peter Gabriel's Music Inspired by The Last Temptation of Christ
Brain of J, Footsteps, In My Tree - Pearl Jam

This is just part one, I'll be back with more. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Has anyone seen the new Stetson cologne ads with Matthew McConaughey? It's not the best smelling stuff in the world (my personal favorite is Ralph Lauren's Blue, makes me want to eat my husband up with a spoon when he wears it) but the photography reminds every woman with eyes just how deliciously handsome McConaughey is. With all of the stuff about naked bongos that fact has fallen by the wayside.

I think I'm going to put that ad near where I write to give me inspiration....

Today is election day, if you haven't done so yet, please go out and vote. Democracy is important.
